Tenth Sunday After Pentecost At-Home Service for August 9

The 10th Sunday After Pentecost, we read about Jesus walking on the sea. One word that may have been used more than any other in that passage read from Matthew (14:22-33) was fear. Even though life is very different for us now than it was for Peter and the other disciples in the first century, fear remains.  It is something common to all human experience.

Pastor Rike’s Sermon

That is the message of Jesus: Do not be afraid, but go in faith; there in the dangers and uncertainties of the future you will encounter the risen Christ Jesus.
That same message continues to be heard today. That command can overcome our fears, pulling us out of our past failures with promised forgiveness, guiding us into a future we can neither imagine nor create. That Word continues to call forth faith.
