It’s Time for Thanks & Giving – How You Can Lend a Hand in Our Community

There’s nothing like Thanksgiving to bring us together and remind us of all that God has given us. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” 1 Chronicles 16:34

If you’re looking for a way to help support those in our local community, check out these opportunities. You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.” 2 Corinthians 9:11

As you may know, Lower Valley Foodbank is not taking donations of food due to COVID-19. So any food that is donated to GSLC has been going to St. Vincent de Paul in Sharpsburg. We are still sending monetary donations to Lower Valley.

For the holidays, St. Vincent de Paul has two requests. One is that any seasonal food (canned pumpkin, boxed stuffing, etc.) should be donated by November 15 for Thanksgiving, and by December 15 for Christmas.

Their second request is for Christmas!! St Vincent de Paul offers its clients ‘gift shopping’ for their family members. These ‘gifts’ are gift cards for local stores and restaurants. Any store or eatery along the Freeport  Road bus route – from Sharpsburg to the Target in Harmar, is a possibility. Taco Bell or McDonalds, Walmart or Target – anything! So while you are out and about, please remember St Vincent de Paul and the local people they serve – and buy someone a gift card. Any amount is gratefully accepted, and we will be collecting them through December 15. If the card doesn’t have the dollar amount on its face, please make a note of that so that St Vincent de Paul will know.

You may bring them to the church office or mail them in.
