Update on Donations to Backpack for Hunger

During the summer, the Backpack for Hunger program accepts only monetary donations (and not food donations). Please keep contributing monetarily during the summer and individual non-perishable food items starting again in September.

All of Us Care – Volunteers Needed for Summer Programs

All of Us Care programming supports the children and youth in our community at 1650 Main Street, Sharpsburg, during the “at-risk” after school and summer hours. This organization keeps young people safe and engaged during out-of-school time when they may be left unsupervised or feel disconnected.

Summer Daily Calendar – Monday through Friday, 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

  1. Swimming on Mondays
  2. Lab Ratz on Tuesdays
  3. Attack Theater on Wednesdays
  4. Art Expression on Thursdays
  5. Field Trips on Fridays

Any time that you have available from 1 to 5 hours would be greatly appreciated at the Center in Sharpsburg or for field trips.
Dinner is provided every day for the kids from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Volunteers are needed from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Please contact the GSLC Office for more information on how to volunteer your time.

GSLC Members Help at the Food Bank

The St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank in Sharpsburg asked GSLC members for help during their annual food drive sponsored by the U.S. Postal Service. Three members of the social ministry committee, Dawn, Joan, and Vickie helped to unpack and sort hundreds of bags of groceries. Combined, these women spent eight hours unpacking, hauling, sorting, and stacking groceries while working alongside other volunteers from our community. Look for this opportunity again next year!
