Social Ministry News – Fall 2018
GSLC Members: Have a college student? We need their address.
If you would like to have your college-age sons or daughters receive a care package from GSLC, please send their address to the church office as soon as possible. This popular tradition keeps us in touch with our college-age members, and they appreciate receiving a nice box of goodies twice a year. If you would like to contribute goodies, please drop them off in the box in the Narthex. We will mail the first box before Halloween.
Remember to bring non-perishable, single-serving food for Backpack for Hunger.
Now that school is back in session, we have started collecting for Backpack for Hunger again. Please bring non-perishable, single-serving, high-nutrition food items and place them in the plastic container in the Narthex. In addition, we welcome monetary donations. This program has expanded to provide weekend nutrition support for every student in need at every school in our district.
Bring men’s gloves, mittens, hats, and scarves, and fill our mitten tree.
During October, please help decorate the tree in the Narthex with donations of men’s gloves, mittens, hats and scarves for Shepherd’s Heart Fellowship and Veteran’s Home, located near Mercy Hospital. This drop-in center for the homeless provides food, laundry, shower facilities, and encouragement through God’s Word for those in need. In addition, they offer transitional housing for homeless veterans who are rebuilding their lives. Shepherd’s Heart is also October’s Designated Monthly Benevolence. Your generosity will make a difference for someone in need.
