GSLC Serving the Local and Greater Community in 2017

All of Us Care - Sharpsburg 2017

Service Project at All of Us Care in Sharpsburg

On November 10th, the kids at All Of Us Care were being “knotty.” Well, actually, they were tying knots in their fleece-tied football pillows along with their Good Shepherd friends, Joanne Hermann, Joan Driscoll, Dawn Kotanchik, and Vickie Wille. We toured their new location at 1650 Main St. in Sharpsburg and met their new director, Tarcia Rebeiz. The kids (and their helpers) enjoyed a fun, easy, useful project. Their new football pillows were put to immediate use in a friendly little pillow fight of course! If your schedule has any flexibility on Friday afternoons, please consider joining us next time. We are always looking for new ideas and volunteers to engage with the kids whose ages range from first grade to high school. Check the bulletin and email blasts.

Alaska Mission for Christ

Thank you to everyone who donated to our September benevolence, Alaska Mission for Christ. Your donations paid educational fees for two high school students in Honduras.

This is our last year for this benevolence, so thank you to everyone who has donated over the years, and to everyone in the church who has supported individual students as well!

Turkey Donations for Thanksgiving

GSLC donated $241 to the Lower Valley Community Food Back to help people in need purchase turkeys for Thanksgiving.

Hurricane Relief Donations

Thanks to the generosity of our members, Good Shepherd collected $1462 for hurricane relief for Puerto Rico and other Caribbean islands. As mentioned in last month’s newsletter, for various reasons, these places are often overlooked when recovery efforts are spread thin by so many other needs. By responding to this request for donations, we are partnering with a world-class organization — Lutheran World Relief — to bring hope through the grace of God. When our focus is on God, hope can be found in the midst of any trial or tribulation.
