GSLC in Service of Others During The Holidays

Food Bank 2016

120 Thanksgiving Boxes Packed at Lower Valley Food Bank

Twenty-one volunteers participated in GSLC’s Volunteer Night on November 21 at the Lower Valley Food Bank. As it turns out, packing 120 Thanksgiving boxes with several dozen grocery items can be an aerobic workout – especially when it’s done in less than an hour! Kathy Otterbeck, the Food Bank Director, gratefully received our donation of $465 for the Turkey Fund. (Thanks to the generosity of all who donated!) We enjoyed the opportunity to serve others in our community and the fellowship of working together. Thank you to all of the volunteers!

Pine Cone Christmas Baskets Made with Kids at All of Us Care

On December 2, the Social Ministry team fired up the glue guns to help the kids make beautiful decorative pine cone baskets. Each one was unique, heaped with pinecones and decked out with Christmas stems and bows. A fun time was had by all. Thanks to Joan Driscoll — for supplying the materials and the know-how – and to Dawn Kotanchik and Vickie Wille. If you have any crafty ideas, please join us. Extra hands are always needed!

Passavant Gifts

Gifts Given to Passavant Residents

In December, GSLC donated Christmas gifts to 32 residents living at Passavant Community, a Senior Living Community in Zelienople, PA. Good Shepherd has provided gifts to the residents for the past ten years via Lutheran SeniorLife’s “Gifts of Grace” program.
